Job Description:
The Production MySQL DBA contributes as a member of the DBA team in the Operations department at AdBrite. The DBA team is in charge of all the company’s internal and customer facing production databases spread across the world. The role includes production database administration responsibilities.
Reporting To: Manager, Database Operations
Major Responsibilities:
- Be a member of the production MySQL DBA team responsible for supporting and maintaining high volume, high availability production databases.
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation for managing all production MySQL instances.
- Administer and support existing databases while assuring optimized performance, stability, monitoring, and uptime.
- Work with software, network & systems engineers to define requirements for and implement new databases to meet the growing needs of the business.
- Work with engineering team to implement new Design/systems of databases used by the company to create the most reliable, efficient and trusted marketplace for digital advertising.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 4+ years of hands on experience administering customer-facing databases as MySQL DBA 5.0/5.1 on Linux environment.
- Strong understanding of Master-slave replication.
- Ensure successful backups & recovery and do refresh of Dev/QA/UAT etc. environments.
- Ability to write scripts for monitoring, capacity planning, backups, replication start/stop.
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities and initiative.
- BS in applicable field, such as computer science or MIS
Desired but Optional Skills:
- MySQL 5.x Certification
